10 yrs old Rap artist Young Vishis, says I'm just bringing Jay-Zs' words to life.

Posted by Strickly For The Promo

York, PA - September 02, 2009 - 10 year old Durvel Wilson Jr. (Young Vishis), from York, PA has unique distinctions - He has been entering freestyle battles since he was 8 years old.

His name? Young Vishis, given to him by a hip hop artist at the freestyle battles. Honestly Young Vishis knew he wanted to do this before his parents could realize he was serious. For Young Vishis it started when he said "Mom, Dad I am going to do a show in the living room and I am going to have a big turn out." Young Vishis hand wrote flyer's and passed them out to all his moms friends, family and clients. His mother, Marisa Shockley-Wilson said, "I just came downstairs and my living room was full with people. He performed an 1 hour long show and included his dancers to fill time."

Young Vishis was always around the music. His mom, Marisa and two aunt's Bridget and Shavon Shockley had a singing group named "Beneath The Surface", that was going to be the R&B group signed to Bad Boy Entertainment before the group "Total". However, due to contract disagreements the deal never went through. His dad Durvel Wilson Sr., the head of Native Son Records has always been on the management side of the music, which kept Young Vishis around producers, artist or entertainers all the time. Young Vishis, early on understood how to dedicate his time to his music and still have time for school and playing cornerback for his football team "The York City Boys Club". They have been undefeated and won the championship every year that he has played on the team. He dedicates his work ethic on the field to his dad and his uncle Shamar Mosely, who was one of York Highs top football players, in there perspective years.

Ask Young Vishis and he will tell you "selling records isn't hard for me, I have a young street team that I use, they consist of my school friends, neighborhood associates and family members. The same team that I include in my shows, practices, sales and audience, go out with my CD sell them for $5.00 and I keep $3.00 so we can get more Cd's. After all who wouldn't buy from a kid, he explains." Young Vishis has goals to hire young street teems all over the east coast to promote his music. When it comes to his career Native Son guides him, but he sets up his own practices, studio time and most recently started to record himself.

When watching him on stage you have to marvel at how comfortable he looks up there. He plays to the audience and just has fun. He dances, freestyles and involves the audience with no coaching at all. When he entered his first talent show, it was obvious that he was way past that stage. His current goal is performing at car shows, events centers and charity events. He is also working on a Christmas Boys & Girls club tour on the east coast. Young Vishis has started his acting career and is currently shooting for an independent film and looking forward to more film and TV roles.

Jay Z referred to him in "Backstage" as the "little boy at home, eating cereal, written rhymes, trying to be better than me!. He's authentic and built for this game.

Young Vishis is currently in the studio finishing his mixtape, which will be hosted by Slip N Slide Dj 5053. He promises that everyone of all ages will be able to listen to this CD and play it anywhere.

Grammy Award Winning Artist/Author Queen Pen & Elected Officials Join Together to Appeal for Tougher Domestic Violence Legislation

Posted by Strickly For The Promo

NEW YORK CITY, Jan. 5, 2009 – The New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services has issued a report that lists 58% of all female homicide victims are at the hands of domestic violence. With the rate of abuse increasing in the United States, victim and female rapper Queen Pen is taking a stand for battered women and asking the NYC community and leaders for support and change at a press conference Friday, January 16th. The press conference will be lead by Queen Pen, NY Senator Eric Adams, and Persia (Vh1's White Rapper Show), at the Denim Lounge (1223 Bedford Ave) in Brooklyn at 4pm.

In a press release issued by the NYS DCJS, 55% of female homicides are directly linked to a domestic incident, a story Lynise Walters aka Queen Pen knows all too well. After being hospitalized in January and beat unconscious, merely being a survivor of domestic abuse is not enough for Queen Pen. Several run-ins with an ex-boyfriend proved to Walters that she couldn't handle the abuse on her own and contacted police in June 2008. "It took 31 minutes for police to respond to a 911 call," Walters said after she spotted her attacker outside of her home days
after a brawl between the two. "If my life is taken away or I can't provide for my children, who's going to take care of them?" said Pen, whose fundraising and mentoring work with victims was commended by Gov. David Paterson.

Queen Pen declares to "Make a change with domestic violence victims and the legislation" through her organization
Silent Cries.

At 4pm, Walters, New York Senator Eric Adams, Assembly Member Hakeem Jeffries, Executive Vice President of the New York Board of Rabbis-Rabbi Joseph Potasnik, Former New York Knicks Player & Activist John Starks, Persia from The White Rapper show, and Nefu Da Don will join together in a press conference to rally against domestic violence and ask the New York community for change. Hip Hop Performer Lil Mama, The Hudson-King Foundation and Greg King, (father of Hudson's nephew, Julian King) are also a special invited guests to the January
press conference on domestic violence.

Many of Pen's supporters have witnessed firsthand the terrors of domestic violence. Female emcee hopeful Persia (VH1's White Rapper Show) is now working with Queen Pen to advocate harsh domestic violence punishment against assailants in domestic cases after she was arrested for gun possession to protect her mother, and 6-month old child from an estranged ex. "I was involved in an abusive relationship which led to him trying to kill me," Persia says. "I felt I had no choice but to protect myself." Terrified for her family's safety, Persia acquired an unregistered
loaded weapon that resulted in her arrest after a routine traffic stop. "I'm advocating in hopes that the laws can be in favor to the abused and we won't have to fear for our lives any longer." Queen Pen hopes this press conference will rally attention to the cause and push for more legislation in domestic violence cases.

Persia's Story

Posted by Strickly For The Promo

December 10, 2008---Ulster County, NY. Persia was the biggest sensation on VH1's 2006 reality series, "The White Rapper Show." Her only task was battling for the winner's spot. When she was eliminated leaving behind two contestants, her fan-base declared the reality show over. But in the real world, behind closed doors, the Far Rock, NY native was battling for her life. Entangled in an ongoing domestic dispute with her estranged exboyfriend who continuously threatened her life and the life of her family including her mother and six-month old daughter---without the help of law enforcement, Persia protected herself the best way she knew how.

Later that year, Persia (legal name Rachel Murcerino) was pulled over during a routine traffic stop, when officers searched her vehicle and a found a loaded weapon under her front seat. Now facing a three-and-half year prison sentence instead of the six-months promised by her lawyer if she pled guilty, she is asking for her fans' support once again in an attempt to get her sentence reduced.

"I was involved in an abusive relationship which led to him trying to kill me. I felt I had no choice but to protect myself," Persia said. Adding salt to an open wound, her assailant was also a police informant, leaving her feeling hopeless and even more vulnerable to his violent attacks.

According to the American Institute on Domestic Violence, "domestic violence is the leading cause of injury to women." Fearing for her safety, she left the abusive relationship only to be stalked by her assailant who continued to threaten her and her family's lives. The torment went so far as to him boyfriend pouring gasoline besides her mother's house as a warning if she did not return to him causing her mother to have a heart attack. He was also reported to have called the VH1 network and threatened to expose the winner of the "The White Rapper show" in order
to receive money from them.

"I went into hiding but honestly, who can live like that? Someone I know bought me a gun so that I could get from my front door to my car with[out] being attacked or even killed," Persia stated. According to the American Bar Association, nearly two-thirds of females in the United States were killed with a firearm by their domestic partner or husband in 2002.

Now, after almost two years since her legal encounter, instead of heading to the studio to work on her debut album after inking with a major record label, she is scheduled to appear at the Kingston Court House on December 12, 2008 for sentencing in Ulster County, NY for gun possession.

She is asking her fans and concerned citizens to fax letters or write to the District Attorney's office requesting that her sentence be reduced taking into consideration she is a victim of domestic violence, a single mother of a six-month old daughter with no priors trying to protect herself and her.
