The hip hop community welcomes 2011 with many awards from varying institutions in different parts of the country. This means that hip hop as a music genre is really into its elevating moment. The Annual Female Hip Hop Honors which started to recognize female artists way back in May 2010 is back to crown another set of deserving artists.

Nominees for the 2nd Annual Female Hip Hop Honors were announced by Undergroundgirlsofhiphop.com, one of the Internet’s leading female hip hop sites. Voting is available at Undergroundgirlsofhiphop.com this is the opportunity for fans worldwide to show their love for females in hip hop. The nominees with the most vote s will be awarded on May 21, 2011 at the Radisson Hotel in Los Angeles.

This year’s 2011 Female Hip-Hop Honors will recognize selected nominees in 8 categories and will honor the accomplishments of the females who helped lay the foundation for women in hip hop. The categories are Best R & B Combo of the year, B-Girl Hip Hop Awards, Female Mixtape of the Year, Social Media Grind Award, Trail Blazer Award, Girl Grind Award, Female Hip Hop Rap/Model Award and Breakthrough Artist of the year award.

Honorees include Rasheeda, Candi Redd, Barbee, Trina, Diamond, Gangsta Boo, Jacki-O, Mac Bre Z, Miss Nana, Dondria, Kanary Diamond, Jean Grae, Nisha Rockstarr, Lyrikkal, Beach, Mala Reignz, Shin B, Kandi Cole, Medusa, Lola Luv Monroe, Glo Velez, Pinky, Queen Kong and SKG.
